Typically speaking – How long will a train sit on a siding waiting for clearance for the section of track? Just curious for both Siskiyou Line and proto trains on the wait time.

As long as it takes, eh? Actually a scheduled train loses its' rights after 12 hours from scheduled arrival time, however it would be up to the DS to allow the train in the hole to proceed with a train order. John Colley, Port Townsend, WA

Depending on traffic, the wait in the hole can be short or long. On the model, I've been in the hole for as long as 4 fast hours - or 30+ real minutes at fast clock speed.
The dispatcher decides, and if he's got other traffic to move around you, he'll make you sit as long as needed. Joe Fugate http://siskiyou-railfan.net - 200,000 hits and counting!
