When I posted about the lighting flaws I experienced with NCE CV19 consisting it was with locos equipped with NCE decoders not with QSI. I happen to know what goes on at the bit level of CV 19 - 21 -22 and could quickly overcome the problem. I consider a good knowledge of these CV to be an asset not a liability.
It is true that Command station consists increase command traffic on the rails, however how relevant it is in introducing delays in throttle response remains to be seen/proven. So far at the local club our Loconet peer to peer network digest with ease whatever we can throw at it. Granted we are only a small group, 20 members with a 33x21 feet layout, 360 feet of main line, using a Ratio Super Chief 8 amp. and a booster. We have yet to feel even the slightest delay in response. Lets not forget that NCE pooling system is also an heavy traffic generator on the rails.
The purpose of my post was not to discuss the merits of Universal and CV19 consisting I know about them, but to relate my experience in consisting with NCE so called Double ended consists.
I said it before and will repeat it, I am a happy user/owner of Digitrax and I am also an happy user/owner of NCE.
Joe explained very well the difference between the two systems. I think NCE method is better, mainly because the lash-ups are portable to other layouts using different command stations - even Digitrax
Bear in mind CV19 consisting is also readily available with a Digitrax system. Jack W.
I like to see the points and counter-points ... I think it helps to better understand the strengths of the various systems. Joe Fugate http://siskiyou-railfan.net - 200,000 hits and counting!

I know, but it doesn't have double headed consist feature, which is great if you only run diesel lash-ups like I do. This way, I only need to teach my operators how to acquire a loco on their throttles (which is a simple task even with NCE basic throttles) and read the road number on the side of the lead loco of the lash-up they want to control - and also let them use F keys without additional programming (I don't have experience with sound decoders, though).
That is a good point Denny, I will have to test CV19 consisting on a Digitrax system and see how we can achieve double ended consisting if at all possible.
Did you know Digitrax has announced its two way radio? Jack W.

Let us know!

Nothing at the moment. It's expected this summer, as far as I know.
A lot of "information" about what is happening with Digitrax Duplex Radio is floating around out there. We want our dealers to know the facts first so, here they are.
Facts:
Digitrax will enter the final phase of Beta- testing of our new Duplex Radio control tomorrow (June 28th) on the largest ever N-Trak layout at the Derby City Express / World's Greatest Hobby Show in Louisville, KY. This layout provides us the opportunity to test the duplex radio on a very large layout with lots of variables. Beta testing began in the UK in November 2007 and on some US layouts early in 2008 and this is a continuation of that process. We expect to identify problems that will need to be resolved prior to its release If the initial testing on the N-Trak layout is successful, we hope to be running the Red Line all weekend with Duplex Radio throttles and receivers. Digitrax Duplex Radio Control is fully LocoNet compatible and will NOT require any command station upgrades to run. It will run on all existing LocoNet systems including those running Simplex Radio & Infrared. Digitrax Duplex Radio involves new throttles (DT402D & UT4D) and new radio receiver panel (UR92). There will be additional new functionalities on the new throttles that will be disclosed at a later date. Pricing has not yet been established for these products and they are NOT available for pre- order at this time. You will receive a product release Digi-Fax when we are ready to take orders for the new throttles and receivers. We will announce an upgrade program so that if your customers choose to add Duplex Radio, they may (at a yet-to-be determined charge) send any DT400 throttles for upgrading - (Since this involves radio, FCC requires upgrades be done by Digitrax). Simplex Radio will continue to be available from Digitrax for those who want to continue running Simplex Radio. Customers who are happy with their existing radio systems can keep running them, even when DT402D units are added to them.

Actually it's me reading your message too fast, thus not fully getting the meaning Thanks, I didn't know it. It looks like they are still far from been ready for the market.
Looking at the Model Railroader report on Anaheim. It mentions the MRC Prodigy PC interface is due out this fall or winter. Is it really a wireless connection to the PC?
