This is a list of all the locomotives I have or plan to acquire for the model Siskiyou Line. I present this list to show you how I am developing a prototype loco mix for the layout, and how I am tracking DCC addresses. I am using two-digit consist addesses, and I use the last two digits on the cab of the lead unit as the consist number, to make it easy for my crews to remember.

I have a four digit EasyDCC system, so I could use all four digits, but I find it more convenient to just use two digits for consists, and it's not really a problem with a bit of planning. Also, if I have two locos with the same last two cab digits on the layout, I just make sure one of them is in the middle of the consist. Since both locos have the full 4-digit address as the decoder address, there is no confusion and it works great.

When I have information on several locomotives with the same last two digits on the cab, I select one loco and mark it using a red font. Then I list the others in a light purple color as a reminder, in case I later change my mind. Items listed in gray are actually on the layout ... all others are planned.
